Hi, Jerry: And yet we all know that infinite growth on a finite planet is impossible. The question is then, not if growth must stop but when. We might indeed run up against the wall this century, sooner rather than later. The precautionary principle should be a guiding light for humanity - let's not assume that we can increase planetary population by 50% without encountering nonlinearities. And even now, with over 6 billion people on the planet, many are near starvation. Not only does production come into play, but distribution. In other words, Carrying Capacity of local ecosystems (e.g., of individual countries) is more of a significant factor in limiting population numbers within those countries.
