[Time for a good metaphysical rant... for this you may thank the ubiquitous purveyors of alcoholic beverages. Feel free to disregard...] I can't keep the good things close, because after all I am a Mopey and I don't believe in good things. Not in this world. Nothing Truly and unqualifiedly Good, not in this world, unless you believe in Angels... and I don't, though I have seen them; and as good as they were, they were Dark. But they showed me a Way, if only in my dreams. Keeping the bad things away is easier. There is a place full of great Power and when I ask nicely, it makes a nice little bubble around me, and nothing of this world may reach through it to harm me, and few things not of this world may pass. To ask nicely, I need only imagine the perfect jewel, the flower that represents the universe unfolding, the initial conditions that propagate upwards from the quantum level to the macroscale, and shape the final expressions in conception until they are in reality reflected, if only a bit at a time. Things add up. The bad things remain, but there become places they cannot go, and these bounds may be enlarged. Never underestimate the power of the cross, or of faith, even if your faith is not in the cross nor in those who have died upon, because, or for it; and the circle is unbroken so long as time goes on, so long as you place your will upon it: that which is of your own spirit which you send to yourself to torment yourself to expiate your guilt recognized or unknown, it will rarely cross the bounds of a circle set consciously to exclude it and within the bounds you may sleep well... but guard against your passages outside, lest you may attract real harm in waking life from that which you exclude from harmlessly troubling your dreams. I place a high premium on places which are sanctified, by any ritual in which you have true faith, and upon the smell of fresh cloves of garlic in the air; keep also near you any memento of anyone who truly loved you, and who have passed on. Dark they may be, but angels are angels. Call them to you not in fear but in invitation of escort to your final estate and offer sweet surrender to your higher power, and they will come. If it's not your time to go with them, they will guard your life against the very power of Hell for you have things left to do here in this life. If it is your time to go, they will make your passage easy and speed you to your reward. Making the bad things go? -what's Bad? When will you welcome Death? Is Death an evil presence, a foul old man with a scythe come to slice you into chunks that can slide down a tube to the netherworld? Or is Death a sweet little girl, come to lead you into the freedom from the horror that your life has become, when your flesh is mingled with the metal of the car you couldn't quite drive, or the rock of the mountain you could not climb, or the cancer or infection your immunesystem could not repel? What's Bad in this life is often the prospect of continuing to live in dread, or of dreading leaving this life, or, you may fear that you aren't living your life as you would and the chances of living as you wish/should are eluding you. Death is an Angel, she will come when she is needed, and not before; at all times she stands no more than a step away, but until it is your moment of proper acquaintance with her, there is no Bad Thing which shall touch you in any final way. Accept Death, she is the only savior in this life and is your only escape from it. Until she leads you from this place, she will not take your hand, where she leads you, nobody knows for sure. But until she takes your hand and only at the proper time, ten thousand angels stand between you and Her, fear nothing but the final pain from which she leads you to relief. Bad Things? who cares, they'd just scary, they're just demeaning. Cast your circle around you, and only Death will pass it, at her time and as she should, and probably you will welcome her when that time has come. And never underestimate the power of the cross, or of garlic, for there are worse things than dying, and living badly is among them. While you live, envision the blooming flower of an unfolding universe, unfolding about you, life unfolding and expanding, and yourself expanding with it. While you live, the angels do guard you, live well, and one day you may be one, and, remembering how you once were, will well guard those who are in your charge. Expect no less from them than you would expect from yourself if you had their power and position and responsibility, and your dreams will be untroubled. And cast your circle about you and its periphery of them is made; only have faith and no evil thing shall pass. Unless it is your time. > > -ari -- Whom thou'st vex'd waxeth wroth: Meow. <-----> http://earthops.net/klaatu/
